- Maureen Njeri, Head of Innovation and Projects, Balloon Ventures LTD, Kenya
Maureen Njeri is an experienced innovation, investment, and enterprise development professional with over eight years of experience supporting SMEs and impact-driven businesses across East Africa. She currently serves as the Head of Innovation and Projects at Balloon Ventures, where she leads strategic initiatives focused on business growth, investment readiness, and inclusive economic development.
Throughout her career, Maureen has worked extensively in sectors including food systems, renewable energy, WASH, gender inclusion, and youth employment. Prior to her current role, she was a Senior Associate at Intellecap, where she managed technical advisory services, supported investment readiness for SMEs, and helped develop sustainable business ecosystems to improve access to nutritious foods for low-income communities across East Africa.
Maureen has also led community-based initiatives addressing Gender Based Violence (GBV), women’s empowerment, and social inclusion through her work with Lifted Souls and other regional programs in Kenya and Uganda. Her expertise spans portfolio management, business strategy, impact measurement, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence.
She holds a Master of Science in Prosperity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship from UCL and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Gender & Development from Kenyatta University.
- Evbuomwan Efosa, Head of Research and Business Development, LAPO Microfinance Bank, Nigeria

Evbuomwan Efosa is the Head of Research and Business Development at LAPO Microfinance Bank (MFB). He leads the development of data-driven strategies that expand LAPO MFB’s role in inclusive finance, portfolio growth and sustainable development.
A Certified Microfinance Practitioner and member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Efosa holds a B.Sc. from Ambrose Alli University and an MBA from the University of Benin, and is an alumnus of the IFC Green Bond Technical Assistance Programme (GP-TAP).
Under his leadership, LAPO MFB has strengthened its Education Finance portfolio through innovative product development and strategic growth initiatives. He has led the design and expansion of tailored financial solutions that improve access to quality education for low-income households, supporting school fee financing and education-related services.
Efosa’s work continues to position LAPO MFB as a key private-sector partner in advancing financial inclusion and expanding access to education across underserved communities in Nigeria.
