Evergreen Royal Academy School Transforms Community Through Quality Education
Evergreen Royal Academy began on 10 November 2015 as a small but determined response to major challenges in the Tema New Town, Manhean, and Bankuman communities, including the lack of quality, affordable education for children. The school was founded by Pastor Vincent Ntiamoah Yeboah and Mrs. Suzan Asamoah Yeboah with only three children. With a belief that “NewTown also deserves the best,” Pastor Vincent was led to open a school that would give local children a fair chance to learn and grow.
Today, the school has grown into two branches with over 620 learners and more than 50 teaching and non-teaching staff. The school runs both the Montessori and Ghana Education Service curricula and offers extracurricular activities such as music, cadet, and taekwondo
As the school expanded, it faced challenges with teacher performance, leadership capacity, and school management systems. These challenges made it difficult to maintain consistent teaching quality. In March 2023, Evergreen Royal Academy joined Opportunity EduFinance’s EduQuality program to strengthen its systems and teaching methods. Pastor Vincent explains, “We wanted to grow, but we needed guidance to build a stronger school and better serve our learners." As demand increased, so did the challenges. Without access to financing, the school struggled to keep pace with the community's educational needs. The desire for quality education was clear, but resources were limited.
Since joining the EduQuality program, the school has completed 12 Teacher Mentor Professional Development trainings (TMPD), 8 School Leader Professional Development sessions, 4 Cluster Meetings, and 2 School Visits. Teachers now use the digital Teacher Assistant lessonplanning app, which helps them plan lessons more effectively and deliver structured teaching. The school also accessed financing through Sinapi Aba Savings and Loans, completing three loan cycles that helped improve facilities and learning spaces.
Before joining the program, many teachers struggled to organize lessons and assess learners effectively. After receiving TMPD training and support with the Teacher Assistant app, teachers now deliver clearer lessons and give timely feedback. This has improved learner engagement, especially in the lower primary classes where structured teaching is essential. Parents have noticed these changes, which have contributed to the rising enrolment.
Today, Evergreen Royal Academy serves 623 learners (329 boys and 294 girls) and continues to see growing demand. This increase shows that families trust the school’s commitment to quality learning, safety, and good classroom management. Reflecting on the partnership, Pastor Vincent shares, “The EduQuality program has helped us improve our teaching and leadership. It has made our school better and more organized, and parents can see the difference."
