Irene ChepngetichHead, Education Specialist (Kenya)

Irene Chepngetich is a Head Education Specialist with the EduQuality program at Opportunity EduFinance, based in Kenya.

Before joining Opportunity International, Irene served as a Senior Program Officer at Zizi Afrique Foundation, where she coordinated the Parental Empowerment and Engagement (PE&E) program geared towards advancing meaningful collaboration between schools and families to support holistic child development. Previously, she also worked with Education Development Trust as an Instructional Coach, supporting and mentoring teachers, and equipping them with practical skills in learning pedagogy, literacy and numeracy instruction, and the integration of technology into classroom practice. Her regional experience spans Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, where she has coordinated partners’ efforts and grassroots organizations to advocate for community engagement.

Passionate about educational equity, Irene is committed to ensuring that all children, especially those from marginalized communities, have access to quality education through inclusive, community-driven solutions.

Irene holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Primary Education from Moi University.
