Renee McAlpinAfrica Co-ordinator, Education Quality
Renée McAlpin is the Africa Regional Coordinator for Education Quality and is based in Kampala, Uganda. Renée supports the implementation of the Education Quality programme in Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
Prior to joining the Education Finance team, Renée was a project manager overseeing the Skills for a Changing World project at the Brookings Institution’s Center for Universal Education, which examined the policy implications of expanding the provision of education to include 21st century skills such as collaboration, communication, and problem solving in South Africa, Mexico, Philippines, and Kenya. Before Brookings, Renée also supported BRAC’s education, adolescent development, and livelihood programs in Africa and Asia. Renée also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon teaching English language to over 400 secondary education students, in addition to founding a non-formal youth education and empowerment program.
Renée received her MA from Teachers College at Columbia University in International Education Development, and a BA from Florida State University in Political Science and International Affairs.
