Miriam Maina is an Education Specialist with Opportunity International, Kenya.
Miriam has worked within the Education space in both Kenya and overseas for 12 years. Prior to her joining Opportunity International, Miriam worked as a Regional Representative - Nairobi Region (Nairobi, Kajiado and Kiambu Counties) for Kenya Private Schools Association. While she worked at the Kenya Private Schools Association, she played a key role in the implementation of Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in Private Schools in partnership with Ministry of Education. She also acted as a bridge between Kenya Private Schools Association in Nairobi Region and the Ministry of Education Kenya while maintaining consultation with the association’s leadership to meaningfully shape the educational experience.
With over seven years of experience as a Classroom Teacher and Early Childhood Education Trainer in various learning Institutions, Miriam has positively impacted learners’ lives both academically and socially and through this, she is able to understand every learner personally and this becomes easier to teach and interact with them. Miriam has over One Decade of experience and outstanding performance in planning, organizing and implementing instructional programs. She has strong ability to keenly observe, evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on the performance and development of learner. She is driven by both passion and vision for every learner to be independent through being dependent on their abilities and skills attained. Throughout her teaching career she continues to quote John Cotton Dana “Who dares to teach must never cease to learn.”
Miriam holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kenyatta University Kenya, Certificate and Diploma in Early Childhood Education from Imara Teachers Training College Kenya.
